Starting your own company is a way for many young people to get a job and get to do things that interest them. Entrepreneurship is an increasingly viable career option for young people.
As entrepreneurs, young people feel that they can independently influence their work and the opportunity to earn, as well as the freedom to realize their own ideas. According to TAT's survey, Economy and youth, young people also consider entrepreneurship to be central to the well-being of society.
In Finland, comprehensive advice and guidance is available for young people who are interested in entrepreneurship.
According to Minister of Labor Tuula Haatainen and Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä, it is especially important that young people are given correct, realistic information about entrepreneurship already in the planning phase of the company, both risks and opportunities. They advise the young people to discuss the business idea with business experts, who guide the young people in e.g. drawing up a business plan, financing and all other matters related to the start of entrepreneurship – they don't have to think about things on their own.
